The VA uses a "whole-person" method — not simple addition — to combine multiple disability ratings. Enter each service-connected condition and its rating to get your accurate combined percentage, then rounded to the nearest 10%.

The VA's combined ratings table works by applying each disability to the remaining "whole person." A 40% rating leaves 60% of the person; a second 20% rating applies to that remaining 60%, adding 12%, totaling 52% — rounded to 50%. This tool replicates that math exactly for up to 10 conditions, sorted highest to lowest automatically.
