Body Surface Area Calculator

Body surface area (BSA) is used in clinical medicine to calculate drug doses — particularly for chemotherapy, where dosing by BSA is more accurate than by weight alone. This calculator uses the Mosteller formula, the simplest and most widely validated method.

Body Surface Area (m²)
Average adult BSA: ~1.7–1.9 m² (male), ~1.6–1.7 m² (female). Chemotherapy dosing typically uses mg/m². For example, a drug dosed at 100 mg/m² would be 175 mg for a 1.75 m² patient. Always confirm drug doses with a healthcare provider or pharmacist.
